Luku-Masan

Impact story

Luku-Masan is a small farming community in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State that faced severe water scarcity after their borehole stopped working due to years of use and wear. Daily life became difficult, and the shortage of safe water soon led to widespread sickness and suffering.

With no working borehole, residents turned to a nearby stream for survival. The water was shared with animals, and open defecation was practised around the area, with bathing, washing, and other household tasks carried out in the same water, making it highly unsafe. Lifewater’s team arrived, assessed the abandoned borehole, and quickly rehabilitated it, restoring safe water to the community. The return of safe water has brought great relief to Luku-Masan, and families can once again meet their daily needs without fear of illness.
