Nomadic Ruga

Impact story

Nomadic Ruga is a Fulani settlement located in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The community is made up of pastoralist families who depend on their animals and trade milk and animal produce in nearby markets. The community depended on a shallow, open natural pool between rocks and sand. Women and children scooped the water with bowls and basins while washing and animal activities took place close by, making the water unsafe. Children suffered from stomach pains and fever, and the little savings made from selling goods were often spent on medication. 

When Lifewater came to their aid and drilled a new borehole for Nomadic Ruga, safe water began to flow freely for the people and their animals. Sickness has reduced greatly, and the community is healthier and stronger.
