Dugh Dakachi

Impact story

Dugh Dakachi is a farming community in Lafia East Local Government Area of Nasarawa State that faced severe water challenges for many years without a reliable source of safe drinking water.

Residents relied on hand-dug wells scattered across the village that were contaminated, leading to frequent outbreaks of cholera and typhoid. During dry seasons, when the wells dried up, women and children had to travel long distances to neighbouring communities in search of water. These exhausting journeys took valuable time away from schooling and household duties.

Lifewater’s intervention in drilling a new borehole brought transformative relief. The new borehole provided the community with a safe, reliable water source close to home, dramatically reducing illness and freeing families from the ongoing stress of water scarcity. The community is now filled with hope, and health has improved across every household.
