Impact story

Izom Primary Health Care Centre, located in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, serves both the surrounding community and patients from nearby settlements. When the facility’s borehole stopped working, staff and community members were forced to buy water whenever they could afford it, while at other times they depended on private boreholes owned by a few individuals in the area. 

Access to these private sources was not always guaranteed, and the search for water became a constant challenge. The shortage slowed many activities within the health centre, and community members who visited often arrived carrying their own water. 

Lifewater stepped in and rehabilitated the facility’s broken borehole, restoring a dependable and free source of safe water. The vital rehabilitation ended the constant search for water and the burden of buying it. Izom Primary Health Care Centre is now functioning more smoothly, and staff and the surrounding community have regained confidence and relief.
