Children are healthier and more consisten in school, while women can focus more on farming and household activities. Amadi is a growing farming settlement in Lafia East Local Government Area, where most families cultivate crops like rice and maize.
Despite the fertile land, the community struggled for years with the lack of a dependable water source. Residents relied on a distant stream that often turned unsafe after rainfall and shrank during the dry season. The burden of fetching water fell heavily on women and children, who spent long hours walking to and from the stream. Many families experienced recurring cases of stomach illness and general weakness, especially among children.
