Impact Story

Akpamani is a settlement surrounded by open fields and scattered homes, where many residents earn a living through local fishing, basket weaving, and petty trading. Community life is simple, but for a long time, safe water was missing. Before Lifewater arrived, the people fetched water from open wells and streams shared with animals from nearby grazing areas. Goats and cattle drank from the same place where families collected water for cooking and drinking. These sources were often breeding grounds for mosquitoes, leading to frequent malaria outbreaks and recurrent typhoid diseases, affecting the community’s productivity and wellbeing. Lifewater arrival brought transformative change by drilling a new borehole that supplied safe water throughout the year. This new water source reduced mosquitobreeding sites and lowered the incidence of malaria and other waterborne illnesses. Healthier children attended school regularly, and adults were more productive in farming and other livelihoods. The community experienced a renewed sense of vitality and progress. Access to safe water empowered Akpamani residents to focus on growth and development, making Lifewater intervention a cornerstone for lasting wellbeing and prosperity.
