Impact story
Maikwari II is a quiet farming community in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. For many years the community depended on a poorly dug well that had become contaminated and produced water with an unpleasant odour.
The unsafe water led to frequent sicknesses, causing distress among families and disrupting everyday life. Parents lived with constant worry, and many nights were spent caring for sick family members instead of resting.
Lifewater’s intervention brought a hopeful change to the community after the drilling of a new borehole. The new water source provided safe water that has transformed the community’s health and daily routines. The contaminated well has been abandoned, sickness is no longer as common as before, and families now live without the constant fear of illness caused by unsafe water.
