Impact story
Gadabiyu is a community in Abaji Area Council of FCT Abuja that faced serious water challenges for years, relying on a contaminated, open water source.
Women and children gathered around the shallow opening, scooping water little by little into bowls and buckets. The source was shared with animals and prone to pollution, leading to frequent outbreaks of waterborne diseases that caused illness and infant deaths in the community. Families lived with constant fear and uncertainty, struggling to maintain hygiene and wellbeing.
Lifewater’s arrival brought a transformative change. By drilling a new borehole, Lifewater provided the community with safe water accessible to all. This new water source dramatically reduced disease and improved health outcomes, allowing children to attend school regularly and families to focus on their daily activities.
