Impact Story

Mai Akuya Primary Health Care is located in Lafia East Local Government Area and serves many surrounding communities who visit the facility for treatment, child delivery, immunization, and other basic healthcare services. The center is often busy, with health workers attending to patients throughout the day. Before Lifewater intervention the health care center depended on a hand-dug well for water. This source was often unreliable and unsafe, posing challenges for the facility’s sanitation and patient care. The quality and availability of water were inconsistent, affecting the centre’s ability to provide essential health services. Recognizing the critical need for a dependable water source, Lifewater stepped in to drill a new, safer, and more durable borehole for the health centre. The new borehole has transformed operations at Mai Akuya Primary Health Care Centre by ensuring aconsistent supply of safe water. This improvement has enhanced hygiene, patient care, and the overall efficiency of the facility. Healthcare workers and patients alike have benefited from the reliable water supply, which supports sanitation, medical procedures, and daily activities. The community is grateful for Lifewater intervention, which has strengthened the health centre’s capacity to serve and protect the wellbeing of residents in and around Mai Akuya.
