Impact Story
Gidan Mai Akuya II is a small settlement in Lafia East Local Government Area where families depend on farming and small household activities for survival.
For many years, the community lacked access to safe water and depended on an open well for their water needs. The well was deep and uncovered, making it dangerous, especially for children. Parents were always watchful and did not allow children to go near it without supervision for fear of accidents. The water from the open well was not always safe, leading to frequent sickness in the community.
Lifewater responded to the community’s need by drilling a new borehole, providing a safer and more reliable source of water within the village. Today, families can fetch water without fear. Children no longer face the risk of going near a dangerous well, and parents feel a sense of relief. Safety, hygiene, and overall wellbeing have all improved.
