Yalwata

Impact Story

Yalwata is a small farming community in Lafia East Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, where people live close to the land and depend on each day’s effort to get by. 

For a long time, water was a serious concern. The community’s only source was a stream located some distance away, used for everything: drinking water, washing clothes, bathing, and by animals as well, with no separation. There were also times when snakes were seen around the bushes near the water, making every trip stressful, especially for the younger ones who accompanied their mothers. 

Life started to change when Lifewater drilled a borehole in the community. Water became accessible and close to home. People no longer depend on the stream, children do not have to go near those risky areas again, and families feel safer using water at home.
