Impact Story
Gbacha, a close-knit community in Abaji Area Council, FCT Abuja, where families make a living through small-scale farming, petty trading, and local services. Life here moves at a steady pace. For years, their main source of water was a single borehole that served households, schools, and farms. Despite the community’s hardworking spirit, one challenge overshadowed daily life: access to safe and reliable water. Residents relied on shallow wells and seasonal streams. During the rainy season, these sources became easily contaminated with mud and waste. The lack of safe water affected hygiene, contributed to frequent waterborne illnesses, disrupted school attendance and household routines. Lifewater’s intervention brought a transformative change through the construction of a durable borehole. Families now have safe water within reach, improving cleanliness in homes and farms, reducing sickness, and saving time previously spent fetching water. Children can focus on their studies, and adults can dedicate more energy to work and family life. The people of Izon are deeply thankful for this support, which has brought hope, health, and stability to their community.
