The nature of the water crisis is such that it also affects interpersonal relationships in most communities. The quest for water has turned neighbors into enemies in the Kuyanbana community as they compete for access to water. When we solve the water problem in certain conflict-rid areas we also give neighbors the chance to live together in peace.
Sabon Wuse Angwan Kuyanbana is an extension of the fast-growing Sabon Wuse community. Many people have taken advantage of the community’s proximity to Abuja because of its low cost of living.
Before our intervention, the community depended on ponds, hand-dug wells, and water vendors.
The community hand pump broke down eight months ago. Since then, every effort to repair it has yielded no result. In-fighting among residents has deprived the community of any source of safe water. When the water demand is high; and the water sources are limited, there is bound to be conflict among the people.
With the rehabilitations and repairs, the peoples now have easy free access to water and the outcome is such joy and peaceful coexistence.
The community is grateful to the donors for quenching their thirst for water and bringing peace to the community.
