Water shortage in GDSS Kwaka, since the hand pump broke down, has impacted student enrolment, attendance, and performance. In addition, carrying water for long distances has been an enormous physical burden on school children and has exposed them to safety risks and exploitation. 

Before our arrival, getting kids to stay in school when they felt so ill every day from drinking diseased water was a daunting challenge. 

But Lifewater Canada’s intervention changes all that. Girls can now stay in school. Children will now come into the classroom healthy, energized, and excited to learn.
