Impact story

Chekami is a vibrant community in Kwali Area Council of FCT Abuja. For years, the small settlement relied on

where most families depend on farming and small trading for their livelihood. 

Before Lifewater came, the community depended on open wells exposed to dust, leaves, and surface runoff, making the water unsafe for household use. Waterborne diseases became common, especially among children, and many families spent time caring for the sick instead of focusing on farming and other daily activities. 

Lifewater arrived and drilled a brand-new borehole for the community, bringing an end to the long years of depending on contaminated open wells. Families now have reliable access to safe water close to their homes, hygiene has improved, and the fear of waterborne disease is gradually fading away.
