Maikwari 

Impact story

Maikwari is a rural Gbagyi community in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, where most families are involved in farming and pottery. 

The community struggled for years with unsafe water from an open, muddy, and contaminated source shared with animals and exposed to various pollutants. Frequent outbreaks of waterborne illnesses such as typhoid affected families, and the constant sickness drained both their strength and their limited resources. 

Everything changed when Lifewater visited and drilled a brand-new borehole for the community. Safe water began to flow freely, bringing an end to the long years of dependence on the contaminated source. Homes are brighter, families are healthier, and sickness is no longer as common as it was before.
