Impact Story
Hekan Church, located in Abaji Area Council, FCT Abuja, has long been a beacon of faith and community support in the area. The church serves as a spiritual home for many residents, offering not only worship services but also a place for fellowship, guidance, and outreach programs. However, the church faced challenges that went beyond spiritual needs basic infrastructure, including sanitation facilities, was lacking, impacting the comfort and well-being of congregants, especially women and children who attended regularly. Daily activities at Hekan Church were sometimes disrupted by the absence of adequate toilet facilities, making it difficult for members to stay for extended worship, meetings, or community events. This limitation not only affected attendance but also posed health and safety concerns, particularly for vulnerable groups within the congregation. In response to these challenges, Lifewater stepped in to bring lasting change. Efforts were made and the construction of a new, well-built and modern toilet facility was built for the church. The impact was immediate as church members now attend services without fear or discomfort. Women no longer struggle to find hidden spots outside, and children can remain within the compound safely. The entire Hekan Church family expresses sincere appreciation to Lifewater for this life-changing support. The toilet facility has restored dignity, improved hygiene, and strengthened the church community.
