Abattoir Phase 2 is a busy settlement within Abaji Area Council, where many residents are engaged in meat processing, trading, and small-scale farming. For years, the lack of proper toilet facilities posed a serious challenge in Abattoir Phase 2. Many residents relied on makeshift pit toilets or practiced open defecation around nearby bushes and open spaces. This situation created an unhealthy environment. Flies were common around work areas, and cases of illnesses affected both adults and children. The absence of safe toilets also affected the dignity of women and girls, who often had to wait until dark to relieve themselves. Lifewater responded by constructing a clean and durable toilet facility for the community. The new toilet has provided a safe and hygienic option for residents, reducing open defecation and improving sanitation around homes and workspaces. With this intervention, Abattoir Phase 2 is now cleaner, healthier, and more dignified. The community is grateful for the improved sanitation that has made daily life safer and more comfortable.
