Impact Story
Alhaji Tukura Adamu is a modest community within Abaji Area Council, where most residents depend on small-scale farming and daily trading to support their families. Homes are closely built, and community life is shared. For a long time, the community struggled with the absence of proper toilet facilities. Many households practiced open defecation or shared unsafe, poorly constructed pits. This situation affected the dignity and health of residents, especially women, children, and the elderly. During the rainy season, waste washed into nearby paths and water sources, increasing the risk of disease. Children often fell ill, and maintaining hygiene within the community was difficult. Lifewater intervened by constructing a durable and hygienic toilet facility for the community. The new toilet provided a safe and private place for residents to attend to their needs, reducing open defecation and improving overall sanitation. With this facility in place, the community now enjoys a cleaner environment, improved health, and renewed dignity. The people of Alhaji Tukura Adamu are deeply grateful for this transformative project that has brought lasting positive change to their daily lives.
