Impact Story
Gidan Mai-Akuya I is a quiet settlement where small trading and farming support most households. Before the intervention, sanitation was a major challenge. With no proper toilets, many residents resorted to open spaces around their homes. This often led to foul smells and attracted flies, especially near cooking areas and gathering points. This led to contaminated surroundings and frequent outbreaks of waterborne diseases. Children and elderly were especially vulnerable. Understanding the need, Lifewater constructed a clean and sturdy toilet facility for the community. The new latrine has introduced a safer and more hygienic way of managing waste. Residents now have a proper place to go, reducing contamination in their surroundings. Since the construction, the community has seen a noticeable improvement in cleanliness and general wellbeing. Families are more comfortable, and daily life feels more dignified. Gidan Mai-Akuya I is thankful for this support that has brought both health and relief.
