Impact Story

Izon, a small but vibrant community in Abaji Area Council, FCT Abuja, is home to families who engage in farming and local trading to support their livelihoods. Water in the community was largely sourced from a few shallow wells and unsafe ponds that were unreliable and prone to contamination. Families particularly women and children to travel long distances to fetch water from streams shared with animals. This scarcity made cooking, cleaning, and maintaining personal hygiene a daily struggle, and waterborne illnesses became a common occurrence. Lifewater’s intervention brought a lasting solution with the installation of a well-constructed borehole in the heart of the community. The community immediately felt the benefits of having easy access to safe water. Households now maintain hygiene, waterborne sickness have reduced, and families spend less time worrying about where their next water supply will come from. The residents of izon are sincerely grateful for this initiative, which has brought relief, improved health, and transformed their daily lives.
